Open access version here: Easy Ways to Find Calm by Going Outside
A public invitation to register for our JUNE events here.
Hi everyone,
Pardon the technical glitch in the last email; it was meant to offer public access but saved incorrectly. So, here we go again, and read on.
We have a couple great events this month led by practitioners who are highly trained within their fields of expertise. As a special invitation to our greater newsletter community and a way to ease yourself into the always-a-bit-stressful transition into summer scheduling, we’re inviting all of you to join one or both. If you get something out of them, please consider becoming a paid subscriber, which supports our ongoing work.
The first is with our mindfulness coach Annie Pearson, who runs Empowered Purpose and has spent many years working with public school students on grounding mindfulness practices. The second is with Micah Mortali, the founder of the Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. We’re so grateful to these two for spending some of their valuable time with our community and encourage you to check out their individual practices.
June 22 → Mindfulness 101: How to be okay when things are not okay
Mindfulness is a powerful tool, and when we learn its various tricks and practices, we can employ it at any moment. This month, we acknowledge that, well, A LOT does not seem okay at all in the world. But we still need to figure out ways to help ourselves in seemingly helpless times. Join a session with our terrific mindfulness coach, Annie Pearson and learn ways to start doing just that.

June 20 → Easy Ways to Ground Yourself by Going Outside
Are you like me? Do you spend the majority of your day staring at screens of various sizes? Friend, the time has come to LOOK AWAY and embrace nature healing as one of the very helpful tools in your coping mechanism kit. Please join us for a very special session with Kripalu Lead Faculty member Micah Mortali, who spends most of his days taking groups through the beautiful Berkshire hills in Western Massachusetts in search of calm and connection. He has a lot of accessible tricks up his sleeve – yes, even for those of you who are city-based – and will share them here.

This Week in “PINCH ME” → Stephen Colbert loves ‘The Modern Loss Handbook’
Last Friday evening I was minding my own business in my kitchen, staring mindlessly out the window after a distressing news week, when my phone lit up with notifications. Turns out my old boss, Stephen Colbert, had read a copy of The Modern Loss Handbook and was moved enough to publicly share his feedback. To me, there is no more meaningful notable figure whose note of approval I could value more. The man not only deeply understands grief but also makes it a point to continually talk about and normalize it in public discourse.
If you haven’t checked out the new book, please consider doing so here.
